Why my iPods make me so happy
In June of 2005 as a graduation present, my parents bought me my first mp3 player and the product that addicted me to the world of Apple: a 30GB iPod photo (left in the picture above).
This iPod quickly became an obsession, but remained my only major Apple possession for about a year. To complement my player, I bought an iPod photo dock and connected it to a stereo sitting in my room. This decision proved to be a wise one as I still use the docking station for my iPod touch today. But then, unfortunately, riding home from school one December 2006 day on the bus, the photo slid off my lap and crashed to the ground, breaking the hard drive and ruining the iPod forever. I got the “sad iPod” icon that indicated a hardware failure.
Since Apple could do nothing for me, the iPod needed replacing. Luckily, my mom had recently purchased a black iPod 5G 30GB that she was generous enough to give me (center in the photo above). This iPod became my new obsession, and lasted me through 2007, the year I bought my MacBook. The video, now dubbed Demosthenes, worked perfectly throughout the year and still functions just as well as the day I bought it. Today I use it to back up my iTunes library as I only put a percentage of it onto my iPod touch.
Then, on December 29, 2007, I went to my nearest Apple retail store and bought my 16GB iPod touch with gift cards and money received on Christmas. Naming it Locke, I use the touch to store most of my music (the better-liked half) and a little bit of video and use it for everyday listening and enjoyment.
I’ll provide more posts concerning my technology and other things soon as time allows.
